Mills James Client American Signature Wins Nine ADDY Awards Including Best of Show

We say it often: our clients’ success is our success. And when that success results in more than a handful of awards, we’re honored to celebrate with them. American Signature won big at the 2019 Columbus ADDYs—bringing home nine ADDY Awards at the 2019 American Advertising Federation (AAF) ad club competition including Best of Show. Our team is thrilled to have been the production partner for the award-winning Great Moments Deserve Great Furniture TV campaign.

Mills James came on as the production partner with six weeks before the spots were scheduled to air. We worked with American Signature to shoot the five spots at five different locations over six days. With a nearly 50-person crew and more than 20 talent on set, the team never missed a beat—even editing while the shoot was still happening.

“By the end of the shoot, we had enough footage to make a Netflix series,” joked Mills James Account Director Fred Haring. “It was one of the most creative productions I’ve ever had the privilege to be involved in,” he added. The project was a collaborative effort that brought in some of the top creatives in our network—a Director from Los Angeles, a Composer from Nashville, and talent from Chicago.

American Signature won six of their nine awards for this TV campaign: Best of Show 2019, National/Regional TV Spot, National/Regional Campaign, Cinematography, Video Editing, and Sound Design. Their award-winning work can be viewed on American Signature’s YouTube channel.

The emotional tone of this campaign is unique in the retail sector and is driven by the theme of intimate moments spent around home furniture. A creative decision American Signature owned throughout the entire campaign, and the result speaks volumes of their work. “It was an amazing evening, and more than anything signaled the change happening in our brand,” said American Signature Creative Director Craig Swensen.

The judges introduced the Great Moments Deserve Great Furniture TV campaign as the winner of Best in Show with praise. “I was familiar with the brand, but it changed my perception.” “I could relate to the people in the spot,” and “it made me want to check them out.”
